Boise Community Rallies For Single Mom Of Seven
Every now and then a story comes along that stops you in your tracks. For us, it was hearing about a single mom in Boise raising seven kids. She was doing everything she could to keep her family afloat, but with the school year starting, she faced an impossible choice: pay the bills or buy the backpacks, notebooks, and supplies her kids needed to walk into class ready to learn.
No parent should ever have to make that choice.
At The Good Network, we believe our community is stronger when we look out for each other. So we put the word out. We shared her story with our Boise neighbors, friends, and supporters. And this is where the magic happened. People showed up. Donations came in, businesses offered supplies, and the pile kept growing. In just a few days, we had everything this family needed.
The day we delivered the supplies will stick with me forever. We sorted each backpack so every child had their own pencils, crayons, notebooks, and little extras. The kids dug through their new things with huge smiles, comparing colors and showing off their favorite items. Their mom stood to the side for a moment, quiet, with tears welling up in her eyes. That look wasn’t just relief. It was knowing she wasn’t alone.
And that’s the heart of The Good Network. We don’t just talk about helping our neighbors. We find the need, we share the story, and we give the community a way to turn kindness into action.
