The Ripple Effect Returns Tonight: Supporting Rays for Rare

Every ripple starts small. One act of kindness, one family helped, one spark of light in a hard season. That’s what tonight is all about.

At The Ripple Effect, community comes together not just for music, food, or merch — but to push forward the mission of Rays for Rare, a nonprofit that has been quietly and powerfully changing the lives of families raising medically fragile children.

Light When Skies Are Gray

Rays for Rare was born from heartbreak and turned into hope. Founder Megan Schomer started this journey after losing her son, Corwyn. What began as Corwyn’s Cause has grown into something much bigger — an organization that now lifts up families facing one of the toughest realities: raising a child who needs constant medical care.

Being “medically fragile” can mean living with one of 7,000 rare diseases, pediatric cancer, or the aftermath of an accident. It means oxygen tanks, feeding tubes, suction machines, therapies, and round-the-clock care. It means exhaustion, worry, and a thousand hidden costs most of us never see.

Rays for Rare steps in to carry some of that weight. Their promise is simple: “Light when skies are gray.”

What That Light Looks Like

This isn’t abstract. It’s real help on the ground:

  • Lawn care when parents can’t step away.

  • Housekeeping when hospital weeks pile up.

  • Grocery deliveries and snow removal.

  • Family events that let siblings feel like kids again.

  • Support groups that remind parents they aren’t alone.

And beyond the practical, Rays for Rare is raising their voice in advocacy — serving on the children’s hospital advisory council here in the Valley, and working nationally with Children’s Respite Homes of America to expand pediatric palliative and respite care resources.

Right now, they estimate over 5,000 medically fragile children live in our community. That number grows every year. Rays for Rare is making sure those families don’t have to walk alone.

Tonight’s Ripple

The 3rd Annual Ripple Effect isn’t just an event. It’s a chance to fuel this work.

  • General Admission is Proud to Pay — give what you can.

  • The VIP Impact Pass includes food, drinks, a Polaroid keepsake, Ripple Effect merch, and the album L.A.Y.E.R.S.

It’s family-friendly, kids under 12 are free, and every ticket sold is another ripple of support that spreads out across our Valley.

Why We’re Highlighting Rays for Rare

The Good Network was built to amplify stories exactly like this — stories of neighbors who refuse to let heavy things stay heavy, who turn personal loss into communal love.

Rays for Rare is proof that when we show up for one another, we don’t just ease a burden — we create a culture of care. A ripple becomes a wave, and waves move mountains.

👉 Join us tonight, August 23, 6–9 PM at The Creative Space in Garden City. Bring your family, bring your heart, and help keep the light shining for children and parents who need it most.

Because no one should have to face gray skies alone.
